Black Flame Brownie Baked Oats Recipe

Rich, chocolatey Black Flame Brownie Baked Oats made with oats, Greek yogurt, and protein powder for an easy high-protein breakfast inspired by Hocus Pocus. Ready with just 5 minutes of prep!

Ingredients

  • ½ ripe banana, mashed
  • ⅓ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 whole large egg
  • 1½ tbsp maple syrup
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅓ cup milk, or plant milk
  • ⅓ cup oat flour
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1½ tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tbsp chocolate chips
  • ½ each candied orange, for flame (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a small oven-safe baking dish.
  • Mash the banana in a bowl. Add Greek yogurt, egg, maple syrup, vanilla and milk and mix until combined.
  • Add oat flour, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Stir until you have a thick but easily stirrable batter. Add another splash of milk if the mixture seems too dry.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Transfer the batter to your prepared baking dish and top with additional chocolate chips if desired.
  • Bake for approximately 14–17 minutes, checking around 14 minutes. The edges should be set while the center remains slightly soft.
  • Allow to rest for about 5 minutes.
  • Finish with flaky sea salt and a piece of candied orange shaped like a flame.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake: For a fudgy, brownie-like center, remove the baked oats when the edges are set but the center is still slightly soft. They’ll continue to set as they cool.
  • Protein powder matters: I used Momentous Chocolate Protein in this recipe. Different protein powders absorb liquid differently, so adjust with an extra splash of milk if needed. You can use code BridgetteBlakey for 15% off Momentous.
  • Oat flour: Make your own by blending rolled oats until finely ground.
  • Make it spooky: Shape a small piece of candied orange into a flame for the Hocus Pocus-inspired Black Flame Candle effect. 🕯️
  • Serving: Best enjoyed warm. Add a splash of milk, Greek yogurt, or nut butter for an extra-creamy finish.
